Life partners

I had my ears pierced at age 2. At age 4, when I started school, my mum got me drop earrings. Those were the same earrings I wore for 30 years, and that is why I cherish them. Those earrings were on me as I passed each phase – from a child, to a teenager, to a young adult, during my pregnancy and to a young mother. Jesley Elizabeth Mathew

Loving gifts

The jewellery that was given to me by my parents on my wedding, and that which my husband gave to me on my wedding night, form my most precious pieces. I can always feel their love for me when I see it and hence it is close to my heart. Sadia Mohsin

Charmed

A Pandora bracelet holds a very special place in my heart because my husband wanted to get it for me long before there were outlets in the UAE. He used to tell me about how you can build your own bracelet by selecting various charms. My kids and my husband got it for me for Mother’s Day in 2013. Since then it is a cherished collectible with beautiful charms collected on various memorable occasions. Asma Zafar

TIMELESS PIECE

My fav piece of jewellery is my wedding ring. It’s the first present that my husband gifted to me. I wear it every single day. It’s a simple gold band with a diamond sitting on it. It’s beautiful, elegant, graceful and timeless, just like our love. Qashish Dhiraj Mehta

Diamonds are forever

I have a simple elegant diamond ring that I cherish a lot because it’s a gift from my husband to me on our sixth anniversary more than 10 years ago. Since I was a teenager I have dreamt of having a diamond ring. So the day I got this diamond ring, I felt completely out of this world. I cherish it every single moment of my life – from the time I start the day looking at it to the night when I look at it before I fall asleep. Lamiya Siraj

Lucky charm

Although it looks simple to people, it’s my most extravagant piece of jewellery – a light pink bird-shaped bracelet. I wouldn’t trade it for a diamond bracelet. The day I was gifted it by my parents, I learned the meaning of love, life and family. Every time I look at it, it gives me hope and reminds me of happy times. I wear it during my hard times and when I need luck, like for instance during exams or interviews. It motivates me and reminds me of what a great family I have. Lava Zangana

Three grand pieces

I have not one but three pieces of jewellery that are special to me – a pair of bangles studded with ruby stones, and a rubystudded ring given to me by my paternal grandmother. I couldn’t be close with her much as she died when I was around 10 years old. Although the bangles and the ring have become small for me, I still cherish them as they remind me of her. Fatima Kauser

ALL THE MEMORIES

I will always cherish my mother’s ring that she gave to me on my birthday in 2014. Little did I know that she will not be there for my next birthday. Every time I miss her on special occasions, I wear the ring. It makes me feel that she is next to me.

Mum’s special

The jewellery piece that I cherish the most is the pair of diamond earrings my mother gave me on my 13th birthday. That gift reminds me of my mother’s love and all the praise I got when I wore them on special occasions. I feel special whenever I wear them. Koena Mukherjee

Birthday gift

My favourite jewellery is my diamond ring that was given by my parents as an 18th birthday gift. It is very precious to me because when I don’t see the ring on my finger I feel insecure – it’s like staying away from my parents. Sanvi Somani

Precious pendant

My most prized possession is a pendant given to me by my beloved husband some 11 years back when we were just friends. But that pendant led him and eventually me to realise that we had fallen hopelessly and desperately in love with each other. It always brings a smile to my face and makes me feel cherished whenever I wear it.
