Now in his role for 15 months, Al Thani has continued to propel Ooredoo forward as it expands from its base in Qatar across the region, the Middle East and the wider world. He has been with the firm since 1990 when it was known as Qtel and has held positions across the group including board seats at its various units. A period of four successive quartely profit increases gave Al Thani plenty to smile about during 2015 and 2016, despite seeing a 51 per cent fall in third quarter profit in October 2016.
