Egypt's richest businessma­n Nassef Sawiris added $500m to his $5.2bn fortune this year as the leader of one of the largest nitrogen fertilizer producers in the world, Orascom Constructi­on Industries. Though stock in OCI fell last year, the youngest son of Egyptian magnate Onsi Sawiris also owns 7 per cent of Adidas and 5 per cent of cement giant Lafarge-Holcim, which both saw gains of 58 per cent and 7 per cent respective­ly. Nassef replaces his brother Naguib on this year’s power list owing to the latter’s resignatio­n as CEO of Orascom Telecom Media and Technology Holding (OTMT) in December.
