Munib Rashid al-Masri is known by many names including Duke of Nablus, the Godfather and the Palestinian Rothschild. He is also known as the world’s richest Palestinian through his energy conglomerate Edgo Group. Meanwhile, the company he chairs, PADICO accounts for up to 27 per cent of the Palestinian economy and employs hundreds of thousands of people. He is also a founding member of many of Palestine’s companies including Jerusalem Development and Investment Company (JEDICO), Palestine Telecommunications Group (PALTEL) and Palestinian Development and Investment Company (PADICO). Last year, Edgo continued its expansion into Africa by developing oilfields in Zambia and Malawi.
