UAE will always stand by its Arab brothers

Yemen being a brotherly nation, the coalition will take every measure to protect its stability

-

There are binds of brotherhood that tie together all Arabs through a shared history, a distinct geography and a common vision — a destiny that the leadership and people of the UAE are proud to uphold and support in these testing times. Across the Middle East, those ties that bind are being frayed and gnawed at by outside forces determined to spread disunity, disaffection and disruption. Whether it is extremists who have twisted the message of Islam or a political leadership in Tehran intent on spreading the tentacles of its power in Beirut, Damascus, Baghdad or Sana’a, together Arabs will stand firm — and the UAE will be there, standing shoulder to shoulder with its brothers.

This policy has been reaffirmed by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, during a visit to the nation’s forces that are engaged in military and security operations in Yemen from a base in Taif, Saudi Arabia.

And no one should be unclear of the UAE resolve, or, as Shaikh Mohammad phrased it: “The UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, will not hesitate or be reluctant to help and support its brethren against challenges and threats, a stand that stems from the bonds of brotherhood and common legacy that bind all Arabs who share the same destiny and future.”

And right now, the armed forces of the UAE are putting that common sentiment into action, playing a proud and leading role in the military intervention against Al Houthi militia who have usurped the rightful and legitimate government in Yemen. This rebellious gang is spreading subversion with the help of arms and advisors from Iran.

Make no mistake: Yemen is a brotherly Arab nation. And there should be no doubt that the international Arab coalition intervening there against Al Houthis is determined and will take every measure to ensure that it remains so. That is the only basis for any talks on Yemen’s future.
