If Radhakrishnan’s claim is proved, it can have serious political ramifications in Kerala

Akey accused in the infamous Solar scam in Kerala, Biju Radhakrishnan, was yesterday given 10 hours to produce a compact disc that he claims to have, which allegedly carries incriminating evidence of sexual encounters involving some top politicians.

Radhakrishnan claims the CD has proof of the politicians’ sexual liaisons with Saritha Nair, another key accused in the solar case.

Deposing before the Solar commission in Kochi yesterday, Radhakrishnan could not produce the CD. The commission had set a deadline of December 10.

However, when Radhakrishnan told the court the CD was outside the state, and he would require about 10 hours to retrieve it, the court initially decided to detain the accused and direct the police to obtain it.

Later, the commission felt it had the power to let Radhakrishnan travel along with the police team and retrieve the CD. The Solar commission’s Justice G. Sivarajan was of the view that there were no legal obstacles preventing it from allowing Radhakrishnan to obtain the alleged evidence.

Local media reported that a team of policemen from the Thevara police station was ready to accompany Radhakrishnan during the trip to retrieve the CD.

If Radhakrishnan’s claim is proved, it could have serious political ramifications in Kerala. According to Radhakrishnan, chief minister Oommen Chandy is one of six people who allegedly appear in the CD. The list also includes some ministers.

Chandy has flatly denied the accusation, stating he “does not deserve to be in public life if the allegation is true”. Nair has also denied Radhakrishnan’s claim and has challenged him to produce the CD.

Girls abused

Meanwhile, in a separate case, related to the online sex racket allegedly involving “Kiss of Love” advocate Rahul Pasupalan and his wife Reshmi Nair, the investigating team was told yesterday by one of the girls used by the racketeers that she had been drugged and sexually abused.

The girl said she was abused at the home of Joyce and his father Joshi, two other accused in the case, after being drugged. She said they had blackmailed her using the visuals of the abuse, and later trafficked her to several people.

Local media reported the police investigation has revealed that several people in Kochi were among those who abused her, including a young politician from the city. Police believe that Joyce had links to international sex rackets and that girls were being brought to Kochi from outside the state.
