Al Ahli make semis in beach soccer in Rio

- By Senior Reporter

Al Ahli have booked their place in the semi-final of the Mundialito Des Clubes Beach Soccer being held at the famed beaches of Rio de Janeiro.

In late night action on Friday, the UAE outfit powered their way to a 7-4 win over Levante to book a second meeting against FC Barcelona in the semifinals.

In the second semi-final, it will be an all Brazilian affair, Vasco da Gama will take on fellow rivals Fluminense FC.

The last group match witnessed some great endto-end action. And once again it was the Portuguese connection of Bruno Novo, Rodrigo and Madjer making the difference for the team from Dubai. Novo opened the scoring in the seventh minute, but Miralles drew the two teams level.

Madjer strikes

Novo scored his second and Madjer got his name on the scoresheet to make it 3-1.

But Salvo pulled one back only to see Al Ahli keep their two-goal margin at 4-2 with Haitham’s conversion.

Rodrigo then stepped in and made it 5-2 before Madjer came in and completed his hat-trick to take the Dubai team further away at 7-2.

However, Levante fought back with two quick goals from Salvo reducing the deficit to three goals at 7-4.

But that was all there was from the Spaniards as Al Ahli booked their spot in the semi-finals with six points after two wins and a loss.
