Kangana on getting married more than once
Designer closes annual celebration of Indian handcrafted fashion with a regal show
Kangana Ranaut has said she has no qualms about getting married more than once. “Manav [Gangwani] and I were talking about my wedding. I told him for [my] first wedding for sure, I will wear his design,” Ranaut said while speaking to the media at India Couture Week. Asked if she was certain she would have more than one wedding, Ranaut joked: “Why not? If one can happen, many more can happen.” ohit Bal closed out this year’s FDCI India Couture Week with his Kehkashaan collection, a blend of cultural elements from Russia and India.
The off-site show, at the newly revamped Bikaner House, saw more than 25 heavily embroidered and bejewelled ensembles, featuring silhouettes including floor-sweeping anarkalis, majestic lehengas, dramatic robes, gowns, elegant Jodhpuri pants and jackets.
Bal experimented with heavily embellished motifs such as birds and florals, as well as his signature peacock and lotus motifs in intricate work of gold zardozi and embellishment.
The 53-year-old, who looked dapper in a black velvet sherwani and white pyjama, did not speak to media about the collection after the show.
The backdrop of withered trees, instrumental music and dim lighting added drama to Bal’s show.
The accessories were eyecatching, with jewellery from Shri Ram Hari Ram Jewellers — featuring diamonds, emeralds and rubies set in neckpieces.
Another highlight was the use of bejewelled headgear on both male and female models, which resembled that worn by Russian Czars and the Czarinas.
The five-day gala, where 11 designers showcased their couture collections came to an end with Bal’s show on Sunday. The event saw the who’s who of fashion industry and politics in attendance, including designers J.J. Valaya, Rina Dhaka, Rahul Mishra, Samant Chauhan, entrepreneur Suhel Seth and Rajya Sabha MP Renuka Chowdhury. —IANS
