Dewa launches Ideal Home Initiative

The household that follows the best sustainable practices will be recognised under the Ideal Home Initiative launched by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa).

Dewa will honour the household that does the most to achieve the highest standards of public health and safety, environmental protection, and raise awareness within the community about the best practices for an ideal home environment.

“The initiative seeks to instil a culture of sustainable use among families, while motivating others to adhere to best practices,” Saeed Mohammad Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dewa, said.

Dewa will focus on a number of factors to determine the winner. These include use of electricity and water based on monthly bills, efficient use of airconditioning, use of solar energy, energy-saving lights and environment-friendly appliances, economical irrigation techniques and water tank cleanliness.

Participation in the first phase of the initiative that ends in September is conditional to a family is living in the current property for at least a year.

The head of the household must be registered with Dubai Smart Government’s initiative MYID.
