Ensure your car is roadworthy before setting out in summer
RTA building awareness using digital tools and brochures in collaboration with Ministry of Interior
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that summer traffic awareness campaigns, which are coordinated with the Ministry of Interior, will continue until the end of August.
The campaigns aim to educate motorists about climatic conditions during summer, and the importance of taking extra caution on the roads.
Travellers are urged, as part of the “Accidents Free Summer” campaign, to ensure their vehicles are fully maintained, and tyres are in good working condition.
“The campaign includes delivering awareness e-messages about the importance of maintaining vehicles to about one million individuals through screens in customer service centres, RTA social media network, and driving institutes. E-messages will also be sent through email to employees of the Dubai Government and private sector,” said Hussain Al Banna, Executive Director of Traffic at the RTA.
The campaign also includes awareness messages displayed on some bridges in Dubai, along with an educative movie highlighting the steps of checking and maintaining the vehicle, added Al Banna.
Educational booklets are being distributed to travellers on the road, explaining the official procedures needed when travelling by road through border posts.
The booklets offer tips about inland travel as well as security and safety precautions and information about tyres, vehicle electrical faults, steps on how to measure engine oil, brake faults, the correct way of jump starting a battery, and how to detect whether the engine is overheating.
It also contains information on first aid equipment and the steps needed to treat bruises or wounds on the road.
During the campaign, the Traffic Department will also distribute leaflets cautioning against parking on the hard shoulder.
