Heavy rain hits Lahore and suburbs

More showers forecast in cities and landslides in higher reaches

Parts of Lahore received heavy rain yesterday, bringing respite from heat but threatening to disrupt life.

Pakistan Meteorological Office has predicted rain in various cities of the country including Karachi and Islamabad.

The spell of rain is expected to continue till today evening.

Rain and thunderstorm with a few heavy showers are expected in scattered places of South Punjab, Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan, Sindh, FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir and in isolated places of Islamabad, Upper Punjab and eastern Balochistan during the next 12 hours.

However, downpour may trigger flash flooding and landslides in the vulnerable areas of Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.
