2,000 entries for Sharjah photo festival
Submission deadline for event is September 30; most entries have been received from UK, UAE
More than 2,000 photographers from 60 countries have submitted work to be judged in a Sharjah festival next month, organisers said yesterday.
The first Xposure International Photography Festival, to be held from October 1215 at the city’s Expo Centre, is expected to bring together world famous photographers, as well as budding amateurs.
The deadline to submit images to be judged at the festival is September 30. The contest has so far seen the most entries from the UK and UAE, said Tareq Saeed Allay, director of Sharjah Media Centre, the contest’s organiser.
Photos will be judged based on their impact, composition, and how compelling they are, said Chris Collacott, an award-winning Canadian photographer who is serving as one of the judges.
Competition categories include photojournalism, current affairs, landscapes, street photography, as well as camera phone photographer.
