Passenger jailed over 1.4kg of cocaine haul

transit passenger has been jailed for 10 years for transporting 1.4kg of cocaine capsules hidden inside his stomach at Dubai International Airport.

Customs inspectors at the airport found strange objects in the body of the 29-year-old South African passenger, J.B., once he was examined at a scanning device in June.

The Dubai Court of First Instance convicted J.B. of transporting 93 capsules of cocaine after he pleaded guilty. The accused was also fined Dh50,000. (Staff Report)
