Ajman Crown Prince donates to Etihad Museum’s collection

Ammar contribute­s dagger, passport, official seal, pocket watch and eyeglasses of emirate’s former ruler

New donations were made to the ‘Let’s Preserve the Legacy’ campaign aimed to promote the historical legacy of the UAE through the Etihad (Union) Museum set to open on National Day.

Shaikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and chairman of the Ajman Executive Council, has contribute­d to the campaign by donating the personal dagger, passport, official seal, pocket watch, and eyeglasses of the late Shaikh Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Ruler of Ajman and Member of Federal Supreme Council of the UAE at the time of the union, and one of the signatorie­s to the union agreement on December 2, 1971.

The contributi­on comes in response to the invitation by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to the community to donate items to establish and build the collection­s of the Etihad Museum.

Historical icon

Shaikh Ammar said he believes the new museum will have a leading role in preserving the nation’s history and will represent a historical icon containing documents, pictures, and artefacts from private collecthat tions will benefit the young Emirati generation­s in their academic, practical and social lives.

“Since the UAE’s inception it has been led by honest men who have stayed true to their word and carried the torch of the Union forward, including The Etihad Museum aims to tell the story of the UAE’s founding fathers and the country’s journey. The ‘Let’s Preserve the Legacy’ initiative is open to all members of the community. It will accept contributi­ons in the form of historical photos and collection­s related to the Union of the UAE in 1971. or by the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who first ignited the flame of the Union in the company of the late Shaikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum.

“Following in the same path today is His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE,” Shaikh Ammar said.

He also encouraged the public to become involved in the campaign, as “it is a true honour for each citizen to contribute towards this national landmark that bears the name, symbol and meaning of the UAE Union”.

Shaikh Ammar explained that the UAE public should take pride in this museum, which spans from the first dream of becoming one nation to its current status as an exemplary progressiv­e state, “a state that maintains a pioneering role in human and social developmen­t, and which enjoys political stability and security”.
