Where do we park in International City?

Reader complains of not being able to find parking spots in Dubai’s residential community

- BY TAHREEM IQBAL MUBASHAR Gulf News reader

Iam a resident of Dubai’s International City and I would like to draw the authorities’ attention towards the serious matter of parking issues in our community. Many people have talked about this problem through Gulf News earlier, too, but it still persists.

My husband and I both work, and when we return home in the evening, we cannot find any space to park in front of or close to our residential building. We have to wait for a long time to get a vacant spot, or have to park our cars far away from our building, or in a non-designated spot where we could get fined.

Since parking is free in this area, it is becoming one of the most crowded places in the city. The number of inhabitants far exceeds the parking capacity, which requires a do-over from the authorities. Residents park their vehicles for a long duration when they leave the country on holiday.

Additionally, car rental companies in other areas are parking their cars here, too. My concern is that if the area has free parking, it should be available to the residents of that community. There should be reserved spots for residents for their convenience. People living in International City would have a stress-free life if they were able to find parking when they returned home from work. I request the concerned authorities to look into the matter at the earliest.
