DBMSC and Dubai Care triumph

UAE national team players Mustafa and Shetty bag top awards

DBMSC Steel and Data Care’s A and B teams emerged champions of the United Super League (USL) tournament organised and hosted by United Pro Sports.

USL was held over four weeks and had 32 teams who took part in the event and the teams were split into three divisions. The league was sponsored by Hydralyte.

In a one-sided encounter, DBMSC Steel (92 runs) continued their dominance in A Division with an emphatic

Division A:

Best Batsman: Vikrant Shetty (DBMSC Steel) Best Bowler: Omar Khan (SFS) Player of the Tournament: Rohan Mustafa (DBMSC Steel).

Division C:

Best Batsman: Saurav Pandey (Data Care). Best Bowler: Salim A Rahim (Sagittariu­s Strikers)/ Player of the Tournament: Siddharth Puthran (Data Care).

Best Batsman: Imran Syed (Titans), Best Bowler: Faisal Rashid (Titans) Player of the Tournament: Denis Anthony (Data Care).

Division D:

win over Skybridge Freight Solutions (44 runs). UAE team captain Rohan Mustafa was the chief destroyer, smashing 24 runs and taking three key wickets to set up the win. Mustafa went on to collect the Player of the Tournament award for his all-round performanc­es.

In another game, favourites Data Care B (98 runs) won against the ever-improving Titans (88 runs) in the finals of D Division. Data Care posted (94 runs) in their 16 overs with Varun smashing 26 runs. Imran and Saad bowled well to keep the score below 100. In response Titans fell agonisingl­y short of the target, needing two runs off the final ball and were set to win before a direct hit run-out derailed their comeback.

In C division, Data Care A (98 runs) overcame a spirited Sagittariu­s Strikers (81 runs). Siddharth (22 runs) top scored for the champions and also took three wickets to restrict Strikers from reaching the target, falling 17 runs shot.
