Power back-up at big buildings now a must
Mohammad’s orders come after Dubai Mall electricity outage
The installation of additional power generators in huge buildings and landmark projects will become mandatory, according to His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Shaikh Mohammad said that with immediate effect contractors and companies carrying out development projects will have to install additional power generators that are capable of ensuring that electricity is supplied without any interruption.
Shaikh Mohammad issued the orders during a visit yesterday to the head office of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa).
Shaikh Mohammad was given a detailed explanation by Saeed Mohammad Al Tayer, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Dewa, on the power outage that occurred in Dubai Mall on Monday.
His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, in his capacity as the Ruler of Dubai, issued Law No. 6 of 2017 pertaining to surveying activity in Dubai.
The new law governs land surveys, hydrographic surveys and seismic surveys. The law aims to ensure surveying is conducted according to international best practices. The new law authorises Dubai Municipality to carry out its responsibilities in regulating surveying activity; consequently, Dubai Municipality is the official source for information and data related to land, hydrographic and seismic surveys in the emirate of Dubai.
