BJP chief sees bigger electoral gains in 2019

Amit Shah says Modi’s administra­tion has taken India forward on all fronts

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah said yesterday that his party will win the next general election in the country in 2019 by a much bigger margin than the majority achieved in the 2014 elections.

Addressing the media here during a ‘Meet-the-Press’ programme of the Chandigarh Press Club, he said that the people of the country were overwhelmi­ngly behind the BJP government at the centre led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“We will win [the] 2019 general election with much bigger majority. It will be much bigger than last time [2014],” Shah said, noting that the BJP, in three years of being in power in the centre, had provided a corruption-free and developmen­t-oriented government.
