Dubai Hospital to get Dh290m upgrade

WITH 142 SPECIALITY CLINICS, EXPANSION WILL MEET DEMAND FOR ITS MEDICAL SERVICES

- Staff Report

Anew Dh290-million expansion plan for Dubai Hospital has been approved, officials say. Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and President of the Dubai Health Authority, said the first phase of the expansion will cost around Dh100 million and will include a six-storey building for specialised outpatient clinics.

The expansion will meet the growing demand for its medical services from within and outside the country.

The six-storey building will be spread across 17,800 square metres, and include 142 speciality clinics — three times the current number (48 clinics).

“The expansion will provide a dedicated area for outpatient services, which in turn will reduce the waiting time at the hospital, provide enhanced outpatient clinics for a number of medical specialities and thus help further improve highquality patient-centric care. This is the core of our Dubai Health Strategy 2016-2021,” said Humaid Al Qutami, chairman of the Board and directorgeneral of DHA.

The ground floor will provide diagnostic services including laboratory and radiology, as well as a pharmacy.

The first floor will include 21 endocrinology and diabetes clinics and 13 clinics for rheumatism and immunology, while the second floor will consist of six internal medicine clinics, 17 urology clinics, and other multidisciplinary clinics. Meanwhile, the third floor will include six cardiology clinics and 10 blood diseases clinics, and the fourth floor will have 12 clinics for obstetrics and gynaecology, and 13 paediatric clinics.

Finally, the fifth floor will have 19 clinics for ophthalmology and 12 administration offices and the last floor will house 25 dental clinics.

In the second phase of the project, lecture halls and workshops with the latest technology will be added as well as a parking lot that will have more than 1,200 parking slots for visitors.
