- Staff Report

Dubai Municipality has deployed 40 new cleaning machines to deal with small quantities of waste and cigarette butts that are difficult to remove.

Abdul Majeed Sifai, director of the municipality’s waste management department, said: “This is a quality addition to the equipment used by the cleaning staff of Dubai Municipality, either on roads, or in markets, or residential areas, instead of traditional manual cleaning.”

The 120-litre capacity equipment can separate sand in a special bag and cigarette butts in another.

“We always strive to add modern technology and devices to support all our operations to improve the field work in the cleanliness of the emirate of Dubai, and to achieve this end it requires us to use what is new in the field of integrated waste management with all its techniques,” Sifai said.
