Man dies in acid attack by jilted lover

A newly-married man died post an acid attack by a jilted lover in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur district, police said.

The incident occurred in Venigandla village of Guntur district on Tuesday. Shaikh Mohammad Ilyas (24) succumbed to his injuries at the Government Hospital, Guntur. Ilyas allegedly had an affair with Hema Bindu, but married someone else two days ago in Pamulapaduku village. Hema with the help of a friend, Qasim, duped him into meeting her and flung acid on his face. A manhunt is on. (IANS)
