The three-day Liwa Ajman Date Festival that begins on August 2 will give visitors a glimpse of Emirati heritage, while also providing local farmers a platform to promote their produce. More than 15,000 people are expected to visit the fourth edition of the festival to be held at Emirates Hospitality Centre near Ajman City Centre.

The festival is expected to have more than 60 farmers, who will also display fruits apart from different varieties of dates. The festival will also feature daily workshops and lectures for farmers to explain the best agricultural practices.

Some of Ajman’s hotels will compete in a cooking contest on the opening day. There will also be a photography and video competition, and a dates and citrus fruits contest.

For the first time, there will be a dessert competition, inviting participants to prepare Emirati desserts, with dates being the main ingredient.
