Students clean up public park

Around 50 students get together for clean-up drive in the capital

-

As remarkable as it sounds, there is nothing in this world that compares to the joy of giving back to Nature, society and to the world as a whole.

That is what we aimed to do and feel on September 3.

Around 50 children, of varying grades from a host of different schools, gathered for this event. Oddly enough, the difference in schools did not matter, because on that particular day, the only objective in mind was the task at hand — cleaning Capital Garden, one of the oldest public parks in Abu Dhabi.

We all gathered in front of the main entrance at 5.45am and people soon started coming in. Our aim was to ensure that the youth was genuinely interested in doing good and giving back to society, which has given us so much.

Grateful to municipality

For many of us volunteers, this was a way of saying thank you to Abu Dhabi, the emirate that has been home to many of us for nearly the entirety of our childhood. We went on to collect as many as six bags of litter from the ground and area around the park, which were later dumped in the garbage bins installed at various parts of the city by Tadweer, the centre of waste management in Abu Dhabi.

We are grateful to the municipality for providing us with the permit to go ahead and carry out our good work. We hope that we can soon conduct a variety of such events in order to bring joy and goodness to the city of Abu Dhabi.
