New York’s Dwight School to open in Dubai next year

Fees at the new school will range from Dh114,000 to Dh130,000

Dwight School, founded in 1872 in New York, will open its first Middle East school in Dubai next September, officials said yesterday.

Dwight School Dubai will be located on a 40,000 square-metre campus in Al Barsha South. The campus, designed by Dwight School and its local partner Bloom Education, will offer facilities such as a 25-metre swimming pool, training pool, basketball, tennis and quash courts, a full soccer pitch, a 400-metre running track, auditorium and a mix of academic, language, music, performing arts classrooms, specialist labs and “innovation centres”.

Government-approved fees for Dwight School Dubai will range from Dh114,000 to Dh130,000. The interest list for parents opened yesterday, with the admissions office opening soon for entry into KG to Grade 9 in September 2018. Parents can register their interest on www. dwightschooldubai.ae.A press release issued yesterday said Dwight School “is proud to be recognised by the IB Organisation as a world leader in international education”.

Dwight offers its Quest learning support programme, designed over the past 25 years, for personalised learning for students with specific academic needs.

Dwight also offers its Spark Tank programme in which students can pursue their own interests and learn about the product or business development process. Students present their ideas to a committee drawn among parents, teachers and industry professionals who provide feedback, advice, and mentorships, helping them reach different levels within the “incubator”.

Dwight Schools’ students have been graduating to top universities globally, including Harvard, New York University, Vasser, Cornell, McGill, Waseda University, Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne, and St Andrews. Meanwhile, Dwight alumni include John Williams, Truman Capote, Vin Diesel, Michael Mansfield QC and Ray Davies CBE.
