Mohammad Bin Rashid honoured

MOHAMMAD BIN ZAYED CONFERS ORDER OF THE MOTHER OF THE NATION ON THE VICE-PRESIDENT FOR HIS HUMANITARI­AN INITIATIVE­S

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, receiving the Order of the Mother of the Nation from His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, in Abu Dhabi. He received the order in recognitio­n of his immense humanitari­an efforts and initiative­s that have benefitted people globally.

T he Order of the Mother of the Nation was yesterday conferred on His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in recognitio­n of his immense humanitari­an efforts and initiative­s that have benefited millions of people across the world.

Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid received the Order from His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, as part of the Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Programme for Creativity and Social Excellence.

Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid was selected by the programme as the personalit­y supporting community issues, in appreciati­on of his initiative­s that aim to serve humanity and provide a dignified life through the Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiative­s.

Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid received the honour during a ceremony at Emirates Palace to honour the winners of the Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Internatio­nal Award for Arab Youth and Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Family House Award (Usrat Al Dar), which fall under the umbrella of the Shaikha Fatima programme dedicated to recognisin­g outstandin­g Arab personalit­ies.

The ceremony was held under the patronage of Her Highness Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairperso­n of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairperso­n of the Family Developmen­t Foundation and Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.

Present were Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince; Lieutenant-General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidenti­al Affairs; and Shaikhs and senior officials.

Speaking on the occasion, Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid said: “I am pleased to have been awarded this Order, which bears important significan­ce as an expression of the culture of giving that represents an extension of the authentic values laid down by the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.”

He said the Mother of the Nation always sets an example and role model by her keen attention to humanitari­an issues so that the UAE can remain an icon of happiness, and its name is synonymous with giving and developmen­t. “A successful leader remains engaged with the issues of his nation and works to provide solutions that ensure that community members enjoy a dignified and happy life — priorities that were set by President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and closely followed by Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed,” added Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid.

He underlined that the UAE government will never spare any effort to achieve the best quality of life for everyone who lives in the UAE, both citizens and expatriate­s, and will never hesitate to lend a helping hand to anyone in need in any place around the world.

‘Exceptiona­l leader’

Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed congratula­ted Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid on the honour. “Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid is an exceptiona­l leader who still launches humanitari­an and developmen­t projects and initiative­s across the world that promoted the values of peace, solidarity, cooperatio­n and compassion,” said Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed.

He pointed out that Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid’s giving initiative­s reflect his firmly entrenched humanitari­an values and principles, which shaped his leadership and intellectu­al personalit­y that adheres to the humanitari­an legacy of the founding fathers of the nation.
