Companies gear up as 5G set to top agenda

Network providers and telcos to display solutions for next-gen technology

While 5G, the next evolution of mobile technology after 4G or LTE, is expected to be high on the agenda as a solution as the first standard for 5G has been confirmed and the second standard is due in June.

The 5G commercial­isation is still years away but some companies have more to offer on that front than mere talk as some operators are keen to launch their services by end of this year.

Huawei, Ericsson and Nokia have teamed up with telecom operators to display a full range of commercial equipment for 5G network, wireless access networks and devices. For the first time, Formula 1 will have a dedicated 450 square-metre stand to showcase its future initiative­s and digital platform.

Qualcomm will be demonstrat­ing its always-on mobile PCs that can run Windows 10 on Snapdragon 835 processor. The chipmaker has teamed up with Asus, HP and Lenovo and these devices will be showcased.

The GSMA said in a statement that more than a dozen new keynote speakers for the four-day conference programme which includes Ran Krauss, CEO and Co-Founder, Airobotics; Shang Bing, Chairman, China Mobile; Jeff Zucker, President, CNN Worldwide; Timotheus Höttges, CEO, Deutsche Telekom; Sue Siegel, Chief Innovation Officer, GE and CEO, Business Innovation­s.
