Astudent has been accused of stabbing his friend with a pair of scissors in his neck and killing him following a heated argument at the deceased’s residence, heard a court yesterday.

The Emirati friend was said to have invited a countryman and the 26-year-old Pakistani student over to his residence to stay over in August. In the afternoon, the Emirati was heard shouting the student’s name, according to records, before he was seen by the housemaid bleeding from his neck.

The Filipina maid instantly rushed to the room of the Emirati’s uncle and told him what she had seen and then hid in her room.

Police were summoned to the villa before on-site inspections exposed that the Emirati had been stabbed with a pair of scissors in his neck and killed. Police apprehended the 26-year-old Pakistani two days after the incident.

Prosecutors charged the suspect with stabbing the victim to death. The suspect pleaded not guilty before the Dubai Court of First Instance yesterday.

A police lieutenant testified to prosecutors that during questioning, the suspect claimed that the deceased had invited them over to his villa to drink alcohol. After that, he wanted to fight with the Emirati friend who left the villa. Then the deceased turned to him and the suspect grabbed a pair of scissors and waved it in front of the victim to frighten him and fend him away but mistakenly hit his neck.
