AYM in partnership with Europe retailer

- Staff Report

Dubai-based eCommerce player AYM Commerce has partnered with premium mattress start-up Simba to expand its reach in the region, according to a statement last week from the pair.

Having already raised over $80 million (Dh294 million) in funding, Simba has identified the Middle East as a growth market, and will use AYM Commerce’s online retail infrastructure to grow the company’s sales.

According to the statement, the partnership will see AYM work “alongside the Simba team” to build a tailored Middle East eCommerce offering, supporting a full product range, that, when launched, will allow Middle East consumers to order Simba’s hi-tech mattresses.

These mattresses will then be delivered within 24 hours across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. The service is set to launch in June 2018.

AYM was founded in 2016 by Paul Kenny and James Whelton. Kenny is the former founder of Cobone, and Whelton is co-founder of CoderDojo, the world’s largest coding movement for children.

In 2017, the pair launched one of the region’s largest eCommerce grocery platforms, the Danube App, through AYM’s partnership with the BinDawood group, a Saudi Arabian retail conglomerate.
