RTA donates two school buses in Tanzania, Uganda

Students also receive 400 bags of supplies and 50 bicycles

Needy students in Uganda and Tanzania will benefit from a series of donations announced by a Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) delegation that travelled to these countries.

As part of ‘Dubai Reaches out to Africa’ initiative, the delegation announced the donation of two school buses, 400 bags containing school supplies and 50 bicycles in cooperatio­n with Al Futtaim Motors and Dar Al Ber Society in Dubai.

The visit was part of the “global contributi­ons” of the RTA Charity Foundation and also an extension of the Year of Giving and the Year of Zayed.

Mohammad Obaid Al Mulla, RTA Board member and chairman of RTA’s Charity Foundation Higher Committee, said: “The visit to Uganda and Tanzania reflects RTA’s commitment to making charitable activities overseas in cooperatio­n with Al Futtaim Motors and Dar Al Ber Society in Dubai. Two buses were donated such that each bus will serve several schools. Fifty bicycles were distribute­d to students in both countries assisting them with transporta­tion in rugged areas. Moreover, each school was granted 200 school bags that include school supplies and essentials in a bid to support the needy in remote areas.”

Dr Yousuf Al Ali, CEO of Dubai Taxi Corporatio­n and vice-chairman of the Higher Committee of RTA Charity Foundation, who accompanie­d the delegation, said: “The delegation included volunteers from the RTA, who were known for their charitable contributi­ons, to encourage their efforts.”
