Social media trend report

#StephonClark – As protests continued in California, US, days after police fatally shot an unarmed black man named Stephon Clark, he continued to be one of the top trends on social media. Clark’s brother, Stevante Clark, led hundreds of demonstrators into a city council meeting, with videos from the disruption going viral. In Pakistan, Malala Yousufzai returned to her home country almost six years after being shot at by the Taliban.

@Arock304WV: #StephonClark SMH [Shaking my head] at this world we live in.

Ashley Kirklen: This is the brother of #StephonClark ... His emotions of anger and hopelessness are so raw in this video.

@terruuu: Black skin is not made of steel. You don’t need 20 bullets. That’s not “fear”, that’s rage. School shooters, church shooters, concert shooters, cinema shooters and mail bombers are scary. Not a young father in his grandmother’s backyard with a cellphone. #StephonClark

@voiceblm: Let’s look deeply at this picture of #StephonClark with his kids. Because this is why we must march and protest and resist.

@KaivanShroff: Nearly 6 years ago, MALALA YOUSAFZAI was shot in the face and neck by the Taliban. Today, she returns to Pakistan for the first time... an INTERNATIONAL HERO.

@fiach: She has arrived in Pakistan! @Malala has returned to Pakistan for the first time. Her tireless and powerful campaigning for the rights of girls and education is an inspiration to us all.

@MichaelKugelman: Many Malala detractors criticise her for never returning to #Pakistan. She has now returned. And now they’re saying her return is “staged”.
