Dubai-based pizzeria Pinza will begin exporting its pizzas to the UK in May, via Deliveroo’s shared kitchen space concept, Editions.

After finding success in the UAE, where it now operates across five locations, the restaurant has decided to branch out internationally, joining a growing number of homegrown concepts that are branching out internationally.

“Our plan is to expand internationally, and become the number one pizza concept, known for the highest quality product,” co-founder Tamer Elkhayat told Gulf News in an exclusive statement.

Pinza will join Deliveroo’s growing network of satellite kitchens, which allow a restaurant concept to launch in to a new area, without the need for a premises, or a delivery network, both of which are provided by the delivery company.

The technology company is aiming to open 79 shared kitchen spaces in London by the end of the year. It launched the concept in Dubai, only the second city to host such a space, in October 2017, featuring a number of different restaurant concepts, including Pinza, Cali Poke, and Burger & Lobster.

In a statement to Gulf News, Deliveroo said that because of the “success Editions has seen to date,” the company is “aggressively rolling out” Editions sites across the UAE.

Deliveroo launched in the UAE in 2015, and now employs over 800 riders, and works with over 1,600 restaurants.

Pinza, which has won numerous awards over the past three years, says that part of its success comes from the fact that it imports all of its ingredients from Italy, sourcing vegetables locally “when possible.”
