Derby last year after winning two dirt runs and chased home North America last time. He hasn’t been out of first two in five Meydan dirt runs and I expect him to be in the mix drawn in 10 but with only that number of runners it is not the graveyard berth it could be.

Mubtaahij the immigrant has returned to his roots in the UAE after a reasonable season in California and although he’s a tough sort I can’t envisage him winning this.

Awardee is an early riser and always out on track almost before it’s open, at eight years old I think his best may be behind him. Furia Cruzada’s trainer, Erwan Charpy is very happy with her. She came late to him last year after competing in Europe and he never seemed as comfortable with her as he does now.

She put up a superb, if frustrating effort when a short head second to Promising Run in the Balanchine.

West Coast is only four years old and his 5 wins from 8 races tells a lot about his ability, which is further enhanced by standing in the barn of genius trainer Bob Baffert. There is no Gunrunner — who beat him in the Pegasus — here today and I don’t think gate 9 will be any hindrance to him.

Conclusion

West Coast, Thunder Snow and Forever Unbridled to fight out the finish.
