NTR biopic launch held in Hyderabad

Film will cover meteoric rise of the legend as a megastar and politician

This was the moment many in the Telugu film industry have long been waiting for... The launch of a biopic on the legendary actor and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao.

At an impressive ceremony that brought together the who’s who of Tollywood on Thursday, Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu gave the launch clap for the movie in which actor Nandamuri Balakrishn­a will be playing the role of N.T. Rama Rao, his father.

At the event held at Ramakrishn­a Studios, Balakrishn­a expressed his joy on the opportunit­y to play his legendary father on the big screen.

“We are making this film to ensure that the present and coming generation­s know about NTR and his great contributi­ons to the film industry and to society,” said Balakrishn­a, who had dressed up as Duryodhana (a character from Hindu epic Mahabharat­a) for the muhurtham (inaugurati­on) shot.

Director Teja and other members of crew created a court scene from Daana Veera Soora Karna, the blockbuste­r in which NTR played the roles of Karna, Lord Krishna and Duryodhana, all characters from the Mahabharat­a.

“It is even more difficult to do justice to his multifacet­ed personalit­y. We are working hard on the script which will be the most challengin­g part of doing this film,” he said.
