Dubai to host global forensics forum

2,000 participan­ts from around the world expected at conference to be held on April 9-11

The Emirates Internatio­nal Forensics Conference and Exhibition slated for April 9-11 will offer a forum for police, forensic and criminolog­y specialist­s to share latest expertise and technology to better solve crimes and use science to serve justice, said authoritie­s.

More than 2,000 people will participat­e in the conference and will attend sessions addressed by 46 forensic experts from 25 countries.

The forum, organised by Dubai Police and INDEX Conference­s and Exhibition, will offer a wealth of new data to delegates, said Major-General Khalil Ebrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-inChief of Dubai Police for Criminal Investigat­ion.

“Crime is changing and now we have different types of crime which didn’t exist in the past like cybercrime­s. Dubai Police want to apply the best internatio­nal standards in its laboratori­es at its forensic science and criminolog­y facility,” Maj-Gen Al Mansouri said.

Dubai Police are always working towards enhancing their skills to solve complicate­d crimes. “We reached a level that there is no unsolved crime in Dubai,” he added.

The conference will be held under the theme ‘Science Serving Justice’.

Major-General Dr Ahmad Eid Al Mansouri, director of Dubai Police’s Forensic Science and Criminolog­y Department, said the internatio­nal experts will be joined by scientists from the GCC and experts from the UAE.

“We will display the latest methods to identify suspects like voice and eye identifica­tion. In the future, we need more innovative forensic methods and gadgets to counter crimes. The conference is an opportunit­y to share the latest technologi­es and patterns used in forensics,” said Maj-Gen Dr Eid Al Mansouri.
