Social media trend report

-

Ghouta - An apparent chemical attack in the Syrian city of Douma, in Syria’s Ghouta region, became one of the major topics of discussion on social media as users shared pictures of the children and families who suffered. In the US, famous life guru Tony Robbins was under attack after he bullied a woman attending one of his talks and claimed the #MeToo campaign was just a way for women to gain ‘significance’.

Saima Bharwana:

Death toll: 150 civilians (entire families) were gassed to death and 1,000 cases of suffocation after warplanes bombed civilian neighbourhoods of #Douma city with poisonous gas.

@SyriaCivilDef:

A #WhiteHelmet expresses his grief with a message of love and solidarity, reading #Douma In my heart ...

@CraigCons:

Reports say that 110 people are dead (too many children). This is outrageous and abhorrent. Where is humanity?

Lynnette Khalfani-Cox:

Tony Robbins ... accuses women in the #MeToo movement of going public with their claims out of anger and in order to gain ‘significance’? Totally wrong, just like how he treated the woman who challenged him: He failed to listen, talked over her, mansplained and literally used force against her to try to make a point.

@eorlins:

In case you forgot to check twitter yesterday, check out this awful video of @TonyRobbins! And, if you’re following him, think about unfollowing. I’m officially declaring today #UnfollowTonyRobbinsDay!

@saraziff:

@TonyRobbins #MeToo video is horrifying. The notion that survivors are seeking the spotlight to gain significance, that men can’t hire attractive women because it’s a liability, that it’s okay to physically intimidate and talk over your critic — all from a selfhelp coach with a huge following.

@OhNoSheTwitnt:

Shout-out to Tony Robbins for perpetuating the notion that if men hire “attractive” women they can’t help but sexually harass them and that only “attractive” women are at risk of being sexually harassed.
