Man rapes daughter, gets friends to join him

A man has been booked for allegedly raping his 35-year-old daughter along with two of his friends, in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur city, the police said yesterday.

Additional Superinten­dent of Police, Martand Prakash Singh, said the woman was allegedly raped by the men in Kamlapur area on April 15. She filed the police complaint the next day. While one of the accused has been arrested, the woman’s father and another accused are absconding, Singh said.

“The woman has a son. She married almost 20 years ago but was separated from her husband and since then was living with her father,” the police officer said.

On April 15, the man took his daughter to a fair in Kamlapur, called up his friend, Maan Singh and asked him to join them, the police said.

The two men then convinced the woman to ride with them on a motorcycle to the residence of their friend. There, the men locked her up in a room for nearly 18 hours and took turns to rape her, the police said.

The victim somehow managed to escape and reached home. She narrated her ordeal to her mother and then registered a complaint, the police said.

Six-year-old raped in Uttar Pradesh

A six-year-old was raped in the state’s Siddharthn­agar district, police said yesterday.

The rapist has been arrested, an officer said.

According to police, the incident took place at Semra Bajha village of the eastern Uttar Pradesh district late on Wednesday when the girl, watching a wedding procession pass by her home, was lured by a boy to a deserted area and raped.

Her body was found early next morning in a field. A drunk youth, found lying beside her, was arrested on suspicion of raping and murdering her.

Protest: Nine on hunger strike in Bihar

Nine people, including six women, are on a 72-hour hunger strike in the Bihar capital Patna protesting against the rape cases in Kathua, Unnao, Surat and Rohtas. At least 50 people have joined the relay hunger strike, the protesters said.

Indian-Americans protest

Indian-Americans, including women and children, raising slogans like “Hate Murder, hate Crime: No more. No More” held peaceful protests in front of the Indian Embassy against the gang rape and murder of young girls in Kathua and Unnao, demanding swift justice.
