Gul stars in Alubond Tigers big win
Hits unbeaten 110 as he figures in a mammoth partnership with Younas
Amjad Gul scored an unbeaten century while Fayyaz Ahmed picked up a five-wicket haul as Alubond Tigers defeated Defenders Cricket Club by a massive 219run margin in the 44th Bukhatir Premier League 2018 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
Opting to bat first, Alubond Tigers lost a wicket early before Abdul Shakoor Sher and Mohammad Qasim put on a fine 110-run partnership for the second wicket with both of them powering to impressive half-centuries.
Abdul Shakoor Sher faced 64 deliveries to achieve 50, supported by six fours and a six while Mohammad Qasim scored a 68-ball 60 containing two boundaries and as many sixes.
A few wickets fell to slow down their run flow but the pair of Sami Ullah Younas and Amjad Gul batted in a different zone to share an unbroken 177-run stand as they took their team past the 300-run mark.
Sami Ullah Younas smashed a 46-ball 68 not out with eight boundaries while Amjad Gul was at his aggressive best to blast an unbeaten 110 from only 55 balls peppered with five hits to the fence and 10 over it as Alubond Tigers amassed 336 for five in 50 overs.
Junaid Kaka and Mohammad Tauqir both claimed two wickets each for Defenders CC.
In reply, Defenders CC suffered an early collapse as they lost four wickets for just 28 runs. Sana-Ul Haq managed 19 and Umer Farooq hit 18 who perished before even raising some hopes of a fight back.
Fayyaz Ahmed ran through the middle and lower order as he scalped five wickets while Kamran Shahzad and Sultan Ahmad picked two each.
