THE SECOND SUCH CENTRE AT A MALL WILL ISSUE FITNESS CERTIFICATES WITHIN 48 HOURS

- DUBAI Staff Report

Anew medical fitness centre for conducting tests for the issuance of residency visas and renewal of existing ones was opened at Dragon Mart in Dubai by the Ministry of Health and Prevention yesterday.

Adopting smart procedures, the new centre will process applications and take samples for blood tests within 40 minutes and issue fitness certificates within 48 hours.

This is the second medical fitness centre opened by the ministry in a mall, with the first opened at Ibn Battuta, to facilitate quick accessibility.

The new centre will cater to the community near Dragon Mart and is aimed at cutting back the waiting time and improving efficiency of visa issuance through the adoption of best practices in medical examination, electronic systems and smart technologies.

Inaugurating the new centre, Dr Hussain Abdul Rahman Rand, assistant undersecretary for Health Clinics and Centres, said the opening of the centre at the mall is a qualitative step to streamline the medical fitness examination system, which is fundamental for the prevention of communicable diseases.

Besides the centres in the two malls, the Ministry of Health has 10 other medical fitness centres across Dubai and the Northern Emirates — in Al Baraha Hospital, Al Ghubaiba and Ras Al Khor in Dubai; and Industrial Area, Dibba Al Hisn and Kalba in Sharjah; and one each in Ajman, Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah.
