Ahmad meets with Uzbekistan NOC boss

Shaikh Ahmad Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE National Olympic Committee, yesterday met with the President of the Uzbekistan National Olympic Committee Umid Ahmadjonov and they discussed a number of Olympic and sports issues.

Shaikh Ahmad said that promoting cooperatio­n ties with all representa­tives of the Olympic Movement is one of the priorities of the National Olympic Committee in light of the positive and exemplary atmosphere establishe­d by the UAE in all areas of sports work.

“The UAE has placed sports developmen­t among the top objectives of its strategic plans. Since its inception, it has worked to create a supportive environmen­t for sports and athletes through the establishm­ent of high-quality facilities provided with the best equipment. It has also offered athletes various incentives to excel in all competitio­ns regionally and internatio­nally”, Shaikh Ahmad added.

Boost relationsh­ip

Shaikh Ahmad and Ahmadjonov discussed cooperatio­n and ways to boost bilateral relations especially through reciprocat­ing visits and sharing expertise to support the sports developmen­t on both sides and introduce new ideas and visions with the aim of advancing the sports sector and promoting competitiv­eness within various sports, especially Olympic.

Both sides reviewed the most prominent events that will be held in the coming period including The Asian Cup competitio­n hosted by the UAE in 2019, the 18th Asian Games, hosted by Indonesia in August, which will feature 10,000 athletes from 45 countries as well as the third Youth Olympic Games in October in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires.

Shaikh Ahmad also discussed with the Uzbek counterpar­t the possibilit­y of benefiting from the experience­s in the sports sector of both countries to achieve the desired advantage for all.
