The top three winners of Dubai Chamber’s third Dubai Smartpreneur competition were announced at the ArabNet Digital Summit 2018.

In first place was WakeCap Tech, which makes a safety and tracking device for construction workers, giving firms real-time and cloud-based visibility.

AI start-up Intuito, which specialises in solving global and local mobility challenges, earned second place, while telemedicine AI firm Teledoc came in third.

The top three winners received a combined Dh150,000 in cash, access to training and support, and the opportunity to join other entrepreneur programmes run by Dubai Startup Hub.

Hisham Abdullah Al Shirawi, Second Vice-Chairman at Dubai Chamber, who presented winners with their awards alongside Smart Dubai Assistant Director-General Younus Al Nasser, said, “These unique concepts greatly support Dubai’s Smart City vision, while they are also a reflection of the innovative and entrepreneurial spirit of Dubai’s business community.”

Dubai Chamber said it received more than 300 ideas during this cycle of competition, falling into three categories: blockchain, AI and digital transformation.

These ideas were trimmed down to a shortlist of 50, then trimmed again to put the top 10 finalists up for pitches at ArabNet 2018.

The third edition of the Dubai Smartpreneur Competition was organised under Dubai Chamber’s Dubai Startup Hub in cooperation with Smart Dubai.
