Ministry unveils app to combat child abuse

Hemayati also offers safety and emergency alert facilities

- Staff Report

The Ministry of Interior yesterday launched a child protection application ‘Hemayati’ to enable prompt registration of child abuse complaints and offer quick assistance.

Hemayati, a first of its kind app in the region, has been designed by the ministry to assure families of the protection of their children at all times. The application is also linked with the police departments of all the seven emirates.

The application allows for filing complaints of child abuse in a simplified way while keeping the identity of the complainant and victims confidential.

The app provides a facility that enables parents to have live-time communication with their children and to have real time knowledge of where they are. The application also contains safety and emergency alert facilities. The ministry aims to enhance the safety and protection of children while enabling communication with

them round the clock and facilitates prompt registration of complaints and immediate assistance.

Having knowledge of a child’s location can bring some assurance that children are safe whether they are at school, on a field trip or visiting friends.

The initiative comes as part of the vision of the Federal Government to make the UAE the best country in the world in terms of safety and security and to instill a 100 per cent sense of security among people in the country.
