‘Saat Din...’ trailer fails to impress fans

-

The trailer for Mahira Khan’s much talked about comedy Saat Din Mohabbat In is out, and it has gotten mixed reactions. The CGI, in particular, has critics giving it a thumbs-down. They think this is amateurish, in the age of Avatar, Game of Thrones, and the like.

Saat Din, it seems, combines fantasy, superheroes, and romantic comedy, and if the trailer is anything to go by, the three genres make strange bedfellows.

On the one hand, you have veteran actor Jawed Shaikh playing a ghost from Delhi (one wonders why Delhi) who comes to haunt Sheheryar Munawwar’s underdog Tipu with the strangest of dares: if he wants to transform into a heartthrob he must win over a woman within seven days.

The rest of the trailer shows Tipu trying to get fresh with a bevy of beauties — Khan, Amna Ilyas, and Mira Sethi.

Each of them have been invested with certain unique characteristics. If Khan’s Neeli is wry and humorous, as well as gorgeous, Ilyas appears to be the modern-day girl with a mind of her own; and Sethi is perhaps the half-witted beauty.

Directed by MeenuFarjad, the film is slated for a worldwide release on Eid Al Fitr, and, its masala ingredients should serve to make the film interesting.

Khan is currently at the 71st Cannes Film Festival, her first as the face of L’Oreal.
