Five drug dealers held in Ras Al Khaimah

Fake banknotes also recovered from the gang planning to promote hashish

Five drug dealers were arrested after officers found a large quantity of narcotic substances from their possession, police said yesterday.

Authoritie­s started investigat­ions after receiving informatio­n about illegal activities being carried out by five African men.

The suspects were arrested from their house after the police laid a trap.

Colonel Adnan Ali Al Zaabi, director-general of Ras Al Khaimah Police’s Anti-Narcotics Department, said the suspects planned to promote hashish in the emirate. A large quantity of hashish and fake banknotes were recovered from the suspects, he said

During questionin­g, the suspects confessed to their crime and the case has been referred to the public prosecutio­n.

Ras Al Khaimah Police’s Anti-Narcotics Department has also launched an active campaign on social media against drugs.

The police urged the public to contact the police if they suspect that any person is dealing in drugs.

The police also urged families to monitor their children so that they do not get into drug abuse and become addicts.

Major General Ali Abdullah Bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police, praised cooperatio­n between various police department­s in the country.
