Fire ravages two Al Quoz warehouses; no injuries
Dubai firefighters contain major blaze before it spread to adjacent buildings
Afire broke out in a warehouse and spread to another in Al Quoz Industrial Area late on Tuesday night, Dubai Civil Defence said.
Firefighters were able to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to the remaining warehouses in a row of 12 storage facilities nearby, said firefighters.
The fire started in a warehouse used to store construction materials and flammable items, said Brigadier Rashid Khalifa Al Buflasa, assistant director-general of fire and rescue services at Dubai Civil Defence.
“We were alerted at 11.17pm about a fire in Al Quoz Industrial Area 3. We arrived within two minutes. We prevented the fire from spreading and controlled it in 1.40 hours. There were no reports of deaths or injuries,” Brig Al Buflasa said.
“It was a major fire as the warehouses that contained flammable materials like paints. We have well-trained firefighters who controlled the fire in a short time.”
Firefighters from Al Quoz station ordered backup firefighting platoons from Al Barsha and Port Saeed stations.
After the fire was brought under control, the site was handed over to fire experts of Dubai Police for investigation.
Brig Al Buflasa urged owners of warehouses to follow safety and precautionary measures and make sure to maintain the fire alarm systems and fire extinguishers to prevent the fires and control its spread.
