2018
Shaikh Mohammad’s own Godolphin stable wins a first Epsom Derby, Britain’s most prestigious and richest race for the first time with Masar, a horse that was bred at Shaikh Mohammad’s Dalham Hall Stud in Newmarket, England.
2015
Eight-year-old Prince Bishop, running for the fourth time in the Dubai World Cup, pulled off a sensational victory. He was owned by Shaikh Mohammad’s son Shaikh Hamdan, who was winning the race for the first time.
2014
Godolphin underline their global ambitions when All The Good creates history when winning the Group 1 Caulfield Cup in Melbourne, Godolphin’s first success at the highest level in Australia. It would trigger the setting up of a Godolphin racing empire in the country.
2006
Ex-Italian racehorse, Electrocutionist, gave Shaikh Mohammad’s Godolphin stable a fifth success in the Dubai World Cup. Trainer Saeed Bin Surour described him as ‘a wonderful, brave horse, a real pleasure to train.’
2004
Emirati handler, Saeed Bin Surour, who was discovered by Shaikh Mohammad to train for Godolphin, was named champion trainer in the UK for the fourth time in 2004, a year in which Godolphin captured 11 Group 1 races.
2002
The scale of Godolphin’s global success was the abiding memory of 2002. Street Cry’s victory in the Dubai World Cup culminated in Group 1 triumphs in seven different countries including France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Singapore, the UK and the USA.
2000
A horse called Dubai Millennium justifies Shaikh Mohammad’s faith in him and wins the Dubai World Cup in record-breaking fashion. Shaikh Mohammad described the horse as the best he’s ever owned.
1996
Shaikh Mohammad creates the Dubai World Cup which attracts 11 of the world’s leading thoroughbreds who compete for the prize at Nad Al Sheba Racecourse in Dubai. American superstar Cigar is victorious and sets the standard for other great horses to follow.
1995
In May, Godolphin enjoyed an unprecedented weekend of Group 1 wins around the globe with Flagbird (Premio Presidente della Repubblica – Italy), Heart Lake (Yasuda Kinen – Tokyo, Japan) and Vettori (Poule d’Essai des Poulains – Longchamp, France).
1994
Godolphin racing is established and Balanchine, who was narrowly beaten in the 1,000 Guineas, would win the Oaks at Epsom Downs, giving the Dubai-owned stable the first of many international Classic successes.
1992
Shaikh Mohammad takes the pioneering decision of moving some of his horses from the cold English winter to the warmth of Dubai. The results were spontaneous and it sowed the seeds from which the famous Godolphin stable would emerge.
1977
Shaikh Mohammad’s involvement with international racing began with the filly Hatta, who gave him his first success at Brighton, England on June 20. Hatta was trained by the legendary John Dunlop and ridden by Australian jockey Ron Hutchinson.
