New model schools in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi Executive Council also approves reduction in tourism and municipali­ty fees

Panel approves schools with annual fees ranging between Dh20,000 and Dh30,000 |

The Executive Committee of Abu Dhabi Executive Council has approved a proposal to launch a new model of private schools with annual fees ranging between Dh20,000 and Dh30,000 in partnershi­p with the private sector.

The proposal was presented by Dr Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge, following an indepth study identifyin­g the needs of all community segments, and debates with investors from the private sector.

The study recommende­d provision of private schools offering education at appropriat­e fees. The schools, to be opened at the beginning of the new school year, will follow the curricula and standards adopted in the UAE.

Tourism fees cut

The committee has also approved the reduction of tourism fees from 6 per cent to 3.5 per cent and municipali­ty fees from 4 per cent to 2 per cent.

The committee also endorsed the reduction of Municipali­ty fees for hotel rooms from Dh15 to Dh10 per room per night. The fees will also be collected half-yearly, instead of on monthly basis.

The fee reduction comes as part of the Abu Dhabi Developmen­t Accelerato­rs Programme launched by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council.

The committee, chaired by Jassim Mohammad Buatabh Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office, approved a proposal on the reduction that was earlier submitted by Mohammad Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism-Abu Dhabi.
