Two-day Eid Al Fitr holiday for private sector

Public sector holiday will be from tomorrow till third of Shawwal

- Staff Report

Private sector employees in the UAE will have their Eid Al Fitr holiday on the first and second day of the Islamic month of Shawwal, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation announced yesterday.

Depending on the sighting of the crescent for the month of Shawwal tomorrow, the first day of Shawwal or Eid Al Fitr will fall on either June 15 or 16.

If the first of Shawwal falls on June 15, which is a Friday, most of the private sector employees will not have any additional days off other than the usual weekend.

However, Eid Al Fitr holiday for government employees begins tomorrow, Ramadan 29 or June 14 and lasts until the third of Shawwal.

If Eid Al Fitr falls on June 15 (first of Shawwal), the public sector Eid holiday will be from tomorrow to Sunday — four days off.
