Indian Association builds Dh7m facility with support from UAE, Indian governments
Indian expatriates in Ajman will get a community complex named after His Highness Shaikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, next month, it was announced yesterday.
Shaikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi Auditorium and Sports Complex in Al Jurf will be officially inaugurated by Shaikh Ammar Bin Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, on July 8.
This was announced at a press conference held by Vipul, Consul-General of India in Dubai, and Indian Association Ajman office-bearers.
The Dh7-million facility under the association was built in a three-acre land gifted by the Ruler and with contributions from the Indian government and community members, said O.Y. Ahmed Khan, president of the association.
The Indian government donated Dh800,000 through the Indian Community Welfare Fund after the scope of the fund, raised from fees levied on passport and visa services, was expanded in 2012.
While Yusuff Ali M.A., chairman and managing director of Lulu Group, who is also a patron of the association, donated Dh750,000, about 40 other Indian businessmen in the UAE and association members also contributed to the project.
“We have also received contributions from two Emirati officials,” said Khan.
The 20,000-square-foot complex features an auditorium with a seating capacity of 2,500 with all modern amenities and a board room.
