Coalition doctors make house calls in Hodeida

ERC provides food aid to martyrs’ families in Hadramout Valley and Hodeida governorate

The medical teams of the Arab coalition have been treating patients and providing other medical services in remote villages within the liberated areas along the Red Sea coast of Yemen.

The humanitarian initiative is part of efforts to help address the medical needs of locals who have no access to hospitals, and alleviate their burden that is a result of the destruction caused by Al Houthi militia loyal to Iran.

Medical teams and doctors have been making house visits to patients living in remote areas in Hodeida to provide the necessary treatment and medication.

Dr Sultan Al Kaabi, a member of one of the medical teams, said they were reaching out to women, children and the elderly, in particular, suffering from various chronic diseases.

He added that local civilians had suffered greatly under the hands of Al Houthi militia who left them to cope with the aftermath of killing, destruction and vandalism.

Meanwhile, the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) on Monday distributed humanitarian aid to the families of martyrs in Yemen’s Tarim district, located in Hadramout Valley, as part of its ‘Year of Zayed’ initiatives.

Food baskets

The relief, which included food baskets, is in line with the UAE leadership’s keenness to help Yemenis overcome their current dire conditions. The ERC also visited a number of families that lost loved ones during the war and provided them with the much-needed aid.

Mohammad Obaid Al Shamsi, head of the ERC team in Hadramout, said the initiative is part of the UAE’s vision that seeks to ease the suffering of the families of martyrs and the wounded. The campaign also echoes the values of Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan who was very supportive of the Yemeni people, he said.

The ERC also distributed aid to people in liberated areas in Hodeidah governorate and the surrounding areas.

The ERC teams on Monday distributed thousands of food baskets and relief aid to the people of Hodeida governorate.

Mohammad Al Junaibi, head of the ERC’s relief aid programme, said that the aid distribution is part of an Emirati air, land and sea relief bridge to meet the immediate needs of the Yemeni people.
