UAE, Egypt to build government capacities
First Egypt Government Excellence Conference held in partnership with UAE concludes
The Egypt Government Excellence Conference 2018, organised with the support and participation of the UAE Government, concluded in Cairo yesterday.
Representatives of the UAE and Egypt agreed on a series of projects to be implemented within a year, aimed at building government capacities.
Sponsored by Egyptian President Abdul Fattah Al Sissi, the inaugural edition of the conference aimed to activate a strategic partnership with the UAE, and establish a new model of governance that can be replicated across the Arab world.
Held from Tuesday, Egypt’s first event of its kind drew more than 30 speakers and over 2,500 government officials.
The event covered some aspects of governance: Performance, efficiency and government excellence, government capabilities, and smart services.
Sharing ideas
The participants shared expertise and best practices in governance with the objective of contributing to achieving the sustainable development goals of the Egypt Vision 2030.
The conference included the launch of the Egypt Government Excellence Award in partnership with the UAE.
Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future, thanked the delegates and all those who contributed to the success of the conference.
“The inaugural Egypt Government Excellence Conference marks the beginning of a strategic partnership between the UAE and Egypt that seeks to modernise government performance and establish a new model of Arab governance, based on cooperation and exchange of best practices,” Al Gergawi said.
Earlier yesterday, Al Sissi received the UAE ministerial delegation which comprised Mohammad Al Gergawi; Nasser Bin Thani Al Hameli, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, and Uhoud Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Happiness and Wellbeing.
The UAE delegation praised the efforts exerted by Egypt to promote stability and peace in the Arab world, while stressing the keenness of the UAE to continue to develop mechanisms of cooperation between the two countries in various fields, especially in the development and reformation of government work.
The UAE delegation also hailed Egypt’s excellence in the computer software field as it is a pioneering country in this domain.
